Cleansing / detoxing the body inside and out

For people who are becoming more conscious of what they put into their body, like me, who chooses to eat more RAW foods; here are some ways you can cleanse / detox your body deeper.

Nutrition

Detoxing is all about reducing the levels of toxicity in your body, so whatever you choose to ingest it has to carry less toxins than your usual foods. This is the reason why plant based foods in their natural state are the best to consume. 

Eat a lot more RAW, fibre rich fruits and vegetables such as: broccoli, beetroot, seaweed, kale, cabbage, radishes, apples, grapes, pears etc.

Juice fast / feast consume fresh juices for a period of time – some juice fasts use a variety of fruits or vegetables and some just use one (mono fasting) for the duration. A juice fast can last days to weeks.

Drink plenty of water to wash away your waste, use the equation below to determine how much water you should be drinking for your size and then double it for the cleanse.

Calculate your weight in pounds and then multiply it by 67% or 2/3, for example if you weight 175 pounds multiply that by 2/3 which equals 117ounces of water. This figure needs to be adjusted due to your activity level, so for every 30 mins you work out add 12 ounces of water, you would add 18 ounces of water if you exercised for 45 mins. Don’t forget to double it!

Actions

Sweat it out in the sauna, steam or saunarium – your perspiration will eliminate your waste.

Brush your skin with a dry skin brush towards your major lymph clusters – groin and armpits, this allows you to brush away dead skin cells which enable your sweat to come out more easily.

Fasting – abstaining from food for a while (you should consult your medical practitioner before you try this one), I have spoken to people who talk very highly of this method as a way of giving the body rest and rejuvenation.
